Lixia district in Jinan, Shandong province has made remarkable achievements in its economic and social development over the past five years.

The district's GDP maintained growth at an annual average rate of 7.2 percent, steadily ranking first in Jinan during this period. The general public budget revenue is expected to reach 15.15 billion yuan ($2.33 billion) in 2020. The per capita disposable income of urban residents will reach 64,000 yuan.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), the number of high-tech enterprises in the district reached 350. A total of nine parks were built and 1.92 million square meters of green area was added. A basic medical care system for urban and rural residents had also been built. Expenditures on people's livelihood projects and services totaled more than 28 billion yuan.

In 2020, the district introduced 107 projects, each worth more than 100 million yuan. A number of world leading enterprises opened offices in Lixia, such as Ernst & Young and Publicis Groupe. The local government also renovated and built 59 primary and secondary schools, as well as kindergartens.

For its future development, the district will work to boost 10 major industries, including finance, cultural innovation, big data, and healthcare during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25). Significant progress will be made in developing the Jinan Area of the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone. The foreign capital in actual use is expected to exceed $3.3 billion in that period.
