Lixia sees economic boom in 2021

According to a working conference held on February 16, Lixia district in Jinan, East China's Shandong province, had a GDP of 212.42 billion yuan ($33.53 billion) in 2021, ranking first in Jinan and second among Shandong's total districts.

The economic prosperity is attributed to the optimization of the industrial structure. Data showed that the modern service industry accounts for more than 63 percent of the total, and the added value of the financial industry reached 43.8 billion yuan, accounting for 44.2 percent of the city's total.

The improvement of the commercial and trade circulation industry has also contributed to the boom. In 2021, the total consumer goods retail sales in the city reached 114.1 billion yuan, accounting for 22.5 percent of total sales, with science, technology, finance, medical care, and human resources all seeing growth.

The introduction and promotion of investments has yielded positive benefits. A total of 670 foreign investment projects worth more than 100 million yuan have been launched in the disrtict, with 42 of them coming from the world's top 500 companies. Hengfeng Bank and China Electronic System are two examples.

In addition, Lixia's scientific and technological innovation capabilities have been significantly enhanced. The number of high-tech enterprises has increased to 546, and there are 103 provincial engineering technology research centers in 2022, which have been honored as advanced technology transfer zones in Shandong province.
