In 2024, Jinan made significant strides in bolstering its industrial economy, with a remarkable increase in high-quality enterprises. The city welcomed 31 new "little giant" firms specializing in niche sectors, bringing the total number of such businesses to over 8,500.

This growth is part of Jinan's strategic push to support innovation and industry. Specifically, 10 enterprises in the city were selected to receive funding from the central government to further enhance their development, receiving a combined 27.88 million yuan (about $4.3 million) in support. The city also saw the addition of 720 "specialized, refined, and innovative" businesses, 373 gazelle enterprises, and 1,189 small and medium-sized innovative companies.

Jinan has also focused on green manufacturing, aligning with China's dual carbon goals. In 2024, the city saw the addition of 19 provincial-level green factories, three green industrial parks, and five green supply chain management businesses. It now leads Shandong with 546 green manufacturing pilot projects.

Additionally, Jinan is enhancing the utilization of industrial waste. Three companies in the city have been included on the provincial "white list" for waste steel processing, while eight institutions have been recognized for their significant contributions to the comprehensive recycling and use of industrial solid waste.

Looking ahead, Jinan aims to increase its number of specialized businesses to 9,500 by 2025, solidifying its position as a leading hub for industrial growth and innovation.
