Young athletes from Lixia district delivered an outstanding performance at the first Jinan Sports Games, which ended on Oct 18.

As the city's largest and highest-level multi-sport event, the Games featured 44 disciplines and awarded over 1,400 medals. Around 40,000 participants took part, fueling widespread enthusiasm for sports across the city. Competitions were held across three groups: youth, college students, and workers.

The youth events, which began on June 8, drew over 1,100 young athletes from Lixia competing in 30 sports. They captured 241.5 gold, 153 silver, and 129 bronze medals, helping the district top the overall medal standings.

The athletes excelled in sprinting, shooting, swimming, badminton, and basketball, demonstrating remarkable perseverance and a strong spirit of teamwork.

These achievements reflected the dedication and ambition of the district's young athletes. Backed by supportive policies, resources, and incentives from the Lixia district government, more than 60 schools have integrated sports into their educational programs, making athletic training a part of students' daily life. Over 100 professional coaches provided guidance to nurture promising talent.

Looking ahead, the district plans to optimize its training system, integrate educational and sports resources, and cultivate outstanding young talent.
