The Changlingshan area in Jinan's Lixia district is quickly becoming a hub for the biopharmaceutical industry, supported by a fully integrated industry value chain that links research and development, pilot testing, and large-scale manufacturing.

The area's development is anchored by three complementary facilities. The Changling High-tech Innovation Industrial Park focuses on R&D and incubation, while the Lishan International Cell Medicine Park offers pilot testing services, and large-scale production is centered at the Lishan International Biopharmaceutical Production Base. Together, the three sites enable biotechnology companies to efficiently transition from laboratory research to commercial production.

To further support innovation, the area has established five public technical service platforms, including facilities for cell storage and gene sequencing. These shared resources help reduce research costs, shorten development cycles, and provide comprehensive support for enterprises. More than 60 biopharmaceutical, cell, and gene therapy companies have established operations in the area.

One example is Shandong Junteng Medical Technology Co Ltd, which has developed its own pathology specimen processing equipment, ultrasonic cavitation tissue processing technology, and supporting reagents. Its innovations have reduced tissue dehydration times from several days to just four to six hours, allowing for same-day pathology reports for patients. The company's pathology systems are now used in 720 hospitals nationwide.

As more innovative enterprises and research resources converge in the area, Changlingshan is strengthening its position as a competitive biomedical industry cluster.
