Lixia district has solidified its role as Jinan's economic engine, becoming the first district in the city to surpass 200 billion yuan ($28.98 billion) in gross domestic product, as announced at the sixth session of the 19th Lixia district People's Congress on Feb 4.

The district has made steady progress in urban development. Lixia has made the preservation of the Mingfucheng Historical Area a strategic priority, turning landmarks such as Furong Street into vibrant cultural hubs. Its Central Business District ranks among China's top 20, offering a quality platform for enterprises, while its Economic Development Zone supports emerging and future-oriented industries.

High-quality development has been further driven by urban renewal and innovation. The district has unlocked land value, established state-owned enterprises such as Jinan Lixia Urban Development Group, and promoted institutional innovation in the pilot zone for financial reform, scientific innovation, and the free trade pilot zone. These efforts have earned Lixia national recognition as a top 100 innovative district and positioned it as a provincial leader in opening-up.

Lixia has also improved livability. The district has enhanced its urban environment with nearly 48 percent green coverage. Social welfare has been strengthened through full coverage of a three-tier elderly care network and pioneering community-based childcare, while per capita disposable income remains the highest in Jinan.
