Known as the "City of Springs", Jinan ranked among China's top tourist destinations during the May Day holiday, welcoming about 5.6 million visitors. The World's Best Spring Scenic Area alone recorded daily visits peaking at over 383,000.

Lixia district hosts many of the city's iconic springs, including Baotu Spring, Black Tiger Spring, and Pearl Spring. To protect these natural resources, the district has stepped up ecological protection and water management measures. Coordinated management of 23 rivers and two reservoirs helps maintain the stability of the spring system, while broader ecological conservation efforts continue to support long-term sustainability.

The district is also promoting new ways to share Jinan's spring culture with visitors. Traditional courtyards have been revitalized as cultural spaces highlighting local history, notable figures, and spring heritage. At major spring sites, multilingual digital guide services allow visitors to learn about the springs' history, hydrology, and cultural stories by scanning QR codes.

By integrating ecological conservation with cultural tourism development, Lixia continues to preserve Jinan's centuries-old spring heritage while boosting the city's image as an international tourism destination.
