Lixia district experienced strong tourism growth during the Spring Festival holiday, fueled by a vibrant mix of cultural heritage, digital innovation, and diverse consumption options.
From Feb 15 to 23, the district's top attractions – the World's Best Spring Scenic Area and Qianfo Mountain – welcomed over 3.1 million visitors, an increase of 28 percent compared to last year. Ticket revenue climbed 24 percent year-on-year to nearly 19.8 million yuan ($2.87 million).
A highlight of this year's holiday was blending tradition with technology. The 45th Spring Festival Lantern Fair featured illuminated displays alongside flowing springs. Additionally, a 2,000-drone light show over the Mingfucheng Historical Area transformed poems by Li Qingzhao (1084–1155) and Xin Qiji (1140–1207) into animated digital scenes. These events, combined with synchronized skyscraper light shows in the central business district, bolstered the district's nighttime economy spanning sightseeing and entertainment.
Immersive cultural programs also invigorated the market. An interactive performance at Daming Lake gained popularity with its audience-driven storyline, attracting over 1,300 attendees. At the Shandong Arts & Crafts Exhibition Center, traditional crafts like woodblock prints and pottery were reinterpreted through contemporary design.
By offering nine themed travel routes, Lixia has turned its rich cultural assets into continuous tourism momentum, cementing its status as a leading cultural destination.
