International visitors in Jinan got a taste of local culture by learning how to make youxuan, a traditional Jinan pastry, alongside local residents.

The activity was organized by Shunjing community in Lixia district, giving foreign visitors and local deputies to the people's congress the chance to make Jinan's signature pastry.

A local inheritor of the craft demonstrated how to knead the dough, roll it into thin layers and shape it into youxuan's characteristic spiral form. The visitors then followed along, discovering the skill required to make this everyday snack.

Working side by side gave Chinese and international residents an opportunity to connect in a relaxed, everyday setting.
