Baotu Spring in Jinan's Lixia district has recorded its longest uninterrupted flow since the 1970s, remaining active continuously for 23 years.

The milestone came on Sept 6, 23 years after the spring resumed flowing following 548 days of silence. Its return in 2003 brought an end to decades of frequent interruptions and ushered in the longest sustained period of flow in recent history.

Today, the spring's three main outlets continue to gush upward, sending water into the air and creating ripples across the pool. The scene recalls the ancient description of Baotu Spring, whose water was said to "rise high and surge like wheels".

Baotu Spring is more than a natural landmark. It is at the heart of Jinan's spring culture and a lasting symbol of the city's landscape and heritage. Its continuous flow has helped preserve the defining feature of the "City of Springs" and sustain its centuries-old natural and cultural heritage.
