Lixia district, Jinan was recently selected among China's top 100 innovation zones (2024) on a list released by the Urban Economic Research Center of CCID Consulting, a think tank under China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Lixia district, as the central urban area of Jinan, the provincial capital, boasts a rich history and strong development momentum.
According to statistics released by Jinan Municipal Bureau of Statistics for the main economic indicators of districts and counties in 2023, Lixia district's regional GDP reached 244.69 billion yuan ($33.82 billion), showing a year-on-year growth of 6 percent.
Among all districts and counties in Jinan, Lixia district has maintained the leading position in economic aggregate for many years. In 2021, its regional GDP was the first in the city to surpass the 200-billion-yuan mark.
Furthermore, Lixia district has actively explored a digital economy model centered on new infrastructure. The Minghu International Information Innovation Industrial Park, a provincial-level digital economy industrial park located in the district, has been experiencing continuous growth. The district has signed agreements with Huawei on three innovation centers and the introduction of leading digital enterprises such as China Electronics and iFlytek.
The district has also brought in more than 20 enterprises in the digital economy industrial chain, including Tsinghua University's Novauto, acting as an important support for the development of Jinan's digital economy.
