From March 25 to 26, a delegation of over 20 students and teachers from Lycée Émile Zola in France explored Jinan's Lixia district, diving into the heart of Shandong's cultural heritage. Their immersive journey blended majestic landscapes with ancient wisdom, offering a vivid look into the soul of Shandong.
The group began at Baotu Spring, where they traced the legacy of Li Qingzhao, the renowned Song Dynasty (960-1279) poetess, by touching engraved verses beside the gushing waters.
Aboard a traditional-style painted boat, the visitors marveled at Jinan's ingenious ancient water-lock system, which lifts vessels to navigate the city's interconnected springs and lakes. Gliding toward Daming Lake's Chaoran Pavilion, they witnessed a living scroll of ''canals, willows, and pavilions'', as described by local guides.

As dusk fell, the French visitors stood awestruck before the illuminated Chaoran Pavilion, a Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) architectural marvel. Cameras clicked incessantly to capture its golden-hour grandeur.
The trip transcended sightseeing, fostering cross-cultural dialogues through shared awe and curiosity. From Li Qingzhao's verses to hydraulic ingenuity, the students gained insights into Jinan's ''spring water spirit'' – a testament to how cultural exchange bridges continents and generations.
