In 2022, Lixia district in Jinan, East China's Shandong province, worked hard to improve people's livelihoods.

To increase employment in 2022, the district hosted more than 100 job fairs and released more than 760 million yuan ($110.63 billion) in employment subsidies, which benefitted 178,000 employees at 13,000 enterprises.

At the same time, buildings in 13 residential areas, which cover 1.99 million square meters, were renovated and upgraded, benefiting a total of 18,000 households.

To make the district more livable, 10 green belts were built in Lixia using high construction standards, and a U-shaped greenway was built around a hill in 2022. After six city gardens open, the percentage of green space coverage in Lixia is expected to reach 47.2 percent.

In the education sector, a total of 12 kindergartens, elementary and secondary schools were built, renovated or expanded, and 13,000 majors were added to the college education system in 2022. As more education talents and big name schools gather in the area, Lixia is being regarded as a leading district in Shandong in education.

Furthermore, to build Jinan a civilized model city, a total of 151 volunteer programs were launched, and a great number of professional and special activities now provide more services for those with illnesses and disabilities.
