Jinan's Lixia district was listed among China's innovative environmental practice bases, as announced on Oct 28 at the China Ecological Civilization Forum Jinan Annual Conference, in recognition of the district's efforts in green development.

This comes on the heels of Lixia district receiving the title of National Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Zone in October 2021.

In 2022, the district ranked first in the city in terms of air quality. With 244 days of excellent air conditions, the average level of PM2.5 for the year dropped to 35 micrograms per cubic meter, meeting the national Grade 2 standard for the first time.

Attaining 100 percent compliance in all water quality assessments, the district assures access to clean drinking water sources. Urban black and odorous water bodies have been entirely eradicated, showcasing effective water management and the district's commitment to ecological protection.

In a bid to offer residents a comfortable urban setting, Lixia district has established 86 city parks, 84 green roads, and has upgraded 49 mountainous green zones. A continuous 74.7-kilometer scenic trail now links the entire region, enriching the living experience of residents.

In 2022, Lixia district earned the title of being a provincial-level "Green Mountains and Clear Waters are Golden Mountains and Silver Mountains" innovative practice base, and was named among the first batch of ecological civilization counties in the province.
